Working research farm. Helpful staff. Great animals.
My family and I really adore coming here to see the animals. There are always cows, milking cows, that you are able to walk up to and pat. It does smell like a farm, as it should, but the odor is not so overwhelming that my 7 and 8 year old children complain about it. The students who work here attend the University of Maine in Orono and are more than willing to answer the multitude of questions asked by inquisitive children. There are even some events held here where we have been able to assist cleaning, sterilizing, and hooking up the cows to the milker which was very fun and interesting. Highly recommend stopping in here to check out the cows, horses, and the occasional sheep or goat. Oh, there is also an area where the young calves are kept that you are able to enter, see and pat the babies which children just love.
