I eat here exclusively for breakfast. Governor's is an OK restaurant with decent service. The food is tasty, comes out in reasonable time and the portions are ample. The service is friendly and anxious to please. The place itself feels like a Friendly's ... an old Friendly's at that. They have both tables and comfy booths. There are two dining rooms which can get kinda loud when it's busy. There's a big electric train on the ceiling the kids may enjoy watching.

The breakfast buffet is always pretty good, and overall the food is good.

They have a breakfast buffet which looked kinda gross to us the few times we checked it out ... lots of starch and greasy meats. We order NY style eggs over/ham/home fries and we're satisfied.

The bathroom is OK clean and could use an update.

Great food and service, reasonable prices and great menu.

Overall, the place appears to do a huge business. It looks and feels it. Even the train looks tired and sometimes stops to rest. There's no cozy atmosphere or Maine "Campy" or "Down East" feel. It's just a place to chow down quick and get on with your day.

Governor's honestly has some of the best rolls and desserts around. We buy the large cakes, and freeze slices - they are huge and last for quite a while.

My husband and I were there a few months ago and had the scallop dinner special. When our food arrived it was very disappointing. We got a nice baked potato and 6- half scallops. The plate looked quite bare. The waitress even looked embarrassed. I've been going to this place since I was a teenager and this was the worst meal I've ever gotten. It was cold and didn't taste very fresh. On the upside, the deserts looked wonderful and the coffee was good...

They have a bakery which looks impressive, if that appeals to you. Again, we're kinda grossed out and wonder how anyone could ingest this stuff ... but the cakes and cookies are HUGE and look delicious.

$17 + for 6 scallops and some crappy fries. Had 3 scallop baskets with fries and coke slaw. I only received 1 cole slaw. I asked for some cocktail sauce and tarter but only received tarter. Will never go here again! If you want your money's worth for seafood go to the Coach House in Brewer. For about $20 you get a large platter of fried seafood. I feel like I was taken to the woodshed! I'm only giving it a star because it won't let me post with zero stars.
